After racking up some dominant wins as WEC’s Lightweight Champion, Ben Henderson unfortunately lost his title on the final WEC show against contender Anthony Pettis. The result was that Henderson would not only have to prove dominance in WEC meant anything in the world of UFC but also work his way back to the top of the lightweight heap.
The quest began at UFC 129 against the dangerous Mark Bocek, whose lack of glamour and marquee name-value is often mistaken for a lack of talent. As the first pay-per-view match on the stacked live card, would Henderson deliver the way rival WEC lightweight Donald Cerrone did in his UFC debut? Or, would Henderson find that life in the premiere promotion is more difficult.
The result follows:
Ben Henderson b. Mark Bocek via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
