On two occasions in 2017, Camila Cabello released “double features” of new music — first “OMG” and “Havana” and later “Real Friends” and “Never Be The Same.”
Thursday, she again shared a double dose of new music — this time in the form of new tracks “Shameless” and “Liar.”
There is a key difference in this case, however. Both songs, which are set to appear on her second album “Romance,” are receiving significant first-day radio play.
Numerous stations, including major iHeartMedia channels, have been alternating the songs every hour Thursday (as an example – “Shameless” at 10AM, “Liar” at 11AM, “Shameless” again at 12PM).
Somewhat similar in sonic spirit to her hit “Never Be The Same,” “Shameless” finds Cabello delivering her signature vocals over a stirring instrumental track. “Liar” interpolates from Lionel Richie and Ace of Base hits, while featuring a touch of the Latin flavor common to her biggest hits.
Many figure one will ultimately establish itself as the “proper” single. For now, however, both are receiving high-profile attention.
