While still a weak performer in comparison to the show’s historical standard, Thursday’s “Orphan Black” outperformed the previous week’s season premiere in adults 18-49 and total viewership.
According to national data posted by Showbuzz, Thursday’s episode drew a 0.11 adults 18-49 rating and 0.27 million viewers. The numbers top the 0.08 rating and 0.23 million viewer mark posted by last week’s fourth season premiere.
The viewership tally, nonetheless, ranks as the third-lowest on record. The adults 18-49 rating is similarly one of the lowest ever turned in by the show.
Those evaluating the recent “Orphan Black” ratings will surely pay mind to the role of scheduling. The series is now airing on Thursdays after spending its past three seasons on Saturdays.
Saturday is a notoriously challenging night on which to draw an audience (and some spent the past few seasons clamoring for a move to a weeknight for that exact reason), but there is an argument that it may have been more convenient or desirable for the specific “Orphan Black” audience.
