Airplay for Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” has nearly doubled this week, and it is now enough to position the single within the Top 40 of Mediabase’s rolling hot adult contemporary airplay chrat.
The recipient of 319 spins between March 3 and March 9, “Fight Song” ranks as the hot adult contemporary format’s 39th-most played song. Its weekly spin count bests that of the previous period by a healthy 159; no song beneath #35 enjoyed a greater week-over-week gain.
“Fight Song” will need to retain its position through Sunday to become an official Top 40 hit at Hot AC. Given its sizable momentum, that appears destined to happen.
Promoted by Columbia, “Fight Song” tied “Night Changes” (from the label’s own One Direction) as the week’s second-most added Hot AC song. It has enjoyed significant Shazam and iTunes boosts in airplay markets, and Columbia advises of a potential pop push in the near future.
Platten previously charted at the Hot AC format (known as “Adult Pop” in Billboard’s world) with “1,000 Ships.”
