No longer a mere summer diversion, “Undateable” is about to join the big leagues.
After exceeding its rather modest creative and commercial expectations last summer, the comedy, which comes from executive producers Adam Sztykiel and Bill Lawrence, won a second season renewal from NBC.
That renewal, which initially called for a return next summer, turned into an unprecedented opportunity for the comedy. NBC recently confirmed that “Undateable” will air out of “The Voice” at 9PM on Tuesdays.
The coveted timeslot positions “Undateable” to receive a solid sampling, but it also raises the stakes of each broadcast. “Undateable” is now airing in-season, and its entertainment value will be compared to some of television’s most popular series.
“Undateable” enters this new landscape with a new actress in its cast. Bridgit Mendler, who starred on Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie,” assumes the role of Candace.
