Natalie Portman Wins Best Actress Oscar for “Black Swan”

Following Tom Hooper’s upset Academy Awards victory for Best Director, the 83rd Annual Oscars telecast moved back into the realm of predictability. Frontrunner Natalie Portman won the Best Actress in a Leading Role Oscar for her work in “Black Swan.”

Portman had been an odds-on favorite for the victory, with Annette Bening (“The Kids are All Right”) being the only other actress oddsmakers felt was even in contention for the award.

Other nominees included Nicole Kidman (“Rabbit Hole”), Jennifer Lawrence (“Winter’s Bone”) and Michelle Williams (“Blue Valentine”).
