The biggest album sales stories this coming week, based on single day sales extensions from Hits Daily Double, will be the impressive holdover performance for Susan Boyle’s “The Gift” and strong debut for Jackie Evancho’s “O Holy Night,” but chart interest is not limited to two competition show alumni. A number of heavy-hitters also released albums and can expect modest success.
Debuting in the same ballpark as Rihanna’s “Loud” (180-190,000) will be the Rascal Flatts’ “Nothing Like This” (170-180,000), Keith Urban’s “Get Closer” (170-180,000), Josh Groban’s “Illuminations” (170-180,000) and Kid Rock’s “Born Free” (160-170,000). The Rascal Flatts’ sales figure marks a steep decline from predecessor “Unstoppable,” while the Keith Urban and Kid Rock tallies will likely be in the same range as “Defying Gravity” and “Rock & Roll Jesus,” respectively. All figures are sales forecasts based on first-day data from Hits Daily Double.
The “Glee” Christmas album will do a healthy 150-160,000 in its opening week, safely beating out Nelly’s new entry “Nelly 5.0.” Fueled by hit single “Just a Dream,” the Nelly album will do about 55-60,000 in first-week sales.
Other debuts will include A Day to Remember’s “What Separates Me from You” (forecast at 50-60,000), P!nk’s “Greatest Hits So Far” (40-45,000) and Lee DeWyze’s “Live it Up” (40-45,000).
