Ratings for “How I Met Your Mother” rose to a season high Monday, but the overall impact of CBS’ Super Bowl promotion was disappointingly insignificant.
“Mother” climbed by 8% to a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating with 10.3 million viewers, which made for a season high and a nightly victory in the key demo. While Super Bowl mentions might have helped slightly, the small gain might have simply been the result of hype for the fourth Robin Sparkles-themed episode.
But CBS’ other comedies failed to match the “Mother” gain. Following the season premiere of “Rules of Engagement,” which drew a 3.1 rating and 9.3 million viewers, “2 Broke Girls” delivered a 3.6 with 11.2 million.
Down slightly from its previous original (3.7 with 11.5 million), “2 Broke Girls” saw no boost from its various Super Bowl mentions, including a “Super Bowl Spectacular” clip that featured leads Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs pole dancing.
9:30PM entry “Mike & Molly” also fell, delivering a 3.1 and 10.7 million viewers for its post-Super Bowl airing.
“Hawaii 5-0” delivered a 2.2 with 9.6 million viewers at 10PM.
