Kings of Leon Upsets Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga For Record of the Year

Alcohol was the theme of their acceptance speech as “happy drunk” Kings of Leon celebrated winning record of the year for “Use Somebody.”

Since the nominations were announced, most focused on the battle of opposites between Lady Gaga’s edgy “Poker Face” and Taylor Swift’s girl-next-door ode “You Belong with Me.” But everyone seemed to forget that Kings of Leon’s breakout tune introduced a band once dismissed as the “Southern Strokes” to a mass audience ranging from pre-teen girls to adults in their 50s.

And it was “Use Somebody” that took home the crown.

The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Got a Feeling” and Beyonce’s “Halo” were also nominated.

  1. Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The text in your content seem to be running off the screen in Opera. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Kudos
