The band’s profile is nowhere near what it was during the heyday of “Yourself or Someone Like You,” but Matchbox 20 will still manage a number one chart bow for new album “North.”
“North,” Matchbox 20’s first studio album in nearly ten years, will garner an estimated 110-120,000 first week sales, based on projections at Hits Daily Double. Though down from the 178,000 tally for 2002’s “More Than You Think You Are,” a first-place, six-figure sales debut is nothing at which to sneeze for a band that has not had a major hit single since 2007’s “How Far We’ve Come.”
Among newcomers, Imagine Dragons and Lecrae will battle for the next position. The former’s “Night Visions” and the latter’s “Gravity” are both pacing for 55-60,000.
Two Door Cinema Club’s “Beacon” will open with 15-20,000 first-week sales.
