Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” Album Sales Dominate, 30 Seconds to Mars Behind

Fueled by a legitimate mainstream hit single in “Get Lucky,” Daft Punk’s “Random Access Memories” is pacing for a dominant opening sales week.

Based on the opening day reaction, Billboard forecasts a whopping 300,000 debut week for the album. If that figure holds, the act will not only score a number one on the Billboard 200 but double the inaugural performance for 2005’s “Human After All.” That album moved 125,000 in its first frame.

The week’s three other major releases will follow distantly behind, with albums from The National, 30 Seconds to Mars and Darius Rucker all pacing to open in the 60-70,000 range. The National’s “Trouble Will Find Me” is presently leading towards the high end, while 30 Seconds to Mars’ “Love Lust Faith + Dreams” and Rucker’s “True Believers” are eyeing the lower end.
