“Jungle Book” Easily Stays #1 At Box Office; “Huntsman: Winter’s War” Disappoints

While few expected “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” to dethrone “The Jungle Book” at the weekend US box office, many anticipated a much closer race.

The actual race was a blowout, with the second weekend take for “The Jungle Book” tripling the opening weekend haul for “The Huntsman.”

The former earned an estimated $60.8 million; the latter grossed a disappointing $20.1 million.

“Barbershop: The Next Cut,” last week’s #2 film, slips to #3 this weekend with $10.8 million. “Zootopia” takes #4 (+1) with $6.6 million, while “The Boss” earns #5 (-2) on the strength of $6.1 million.
