In conjunction with the theatrical release of Disney’s new “The Lion King,” Beyoncé curated and released a new album entitled “The Lion King: The Gift.”

Early sales and consumption projections are available for that new release.

According to Hits Daily Double, “The Gift” is currently projected to sell 13-18K pure US copies this week. With units from track sales and streams included, it may generate 50-70K in total first-week consumption.

Such a consumption figure would not guarantee a #1 bow, but it would certainly make “The Gift” a key contender for the #1 spot. Other potential challengers include Billie Eilish’s enduring “WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?” and Ed Sheeran’s recently released “No. 6 Collaborations Project.”

The projection is, of course, subject to change. Early projections always have the potential to be rough, and this particular album’s performance could hinge on buzz over the film.

— On the subject of “The Lion King,” Hits Daily Double reports that the official soundtrack is pacing for 11-14K pure sales and 17-20K total units. Given the more direct link, the official soundtrack’s numbers are even more likely to hinge on reception to the new movie.
