Just like its predecessors “The Maze Runner” and “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials,” the new “Maze Runner: The Death Cure” opens at #1 on the US weekend box office chart.

“The Death Cure” will close this weekend with an estimated $23.5 million. While down from the $30 million-plus openings of the previous two films, the tally is enough for a first place bow.

“Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle,” which spent the past three weekends at #1, falls to #2. It added $16.4 million to its haul (cume now $338.1 million).

The newly expanded “Hostiles” earns third place this weekend. It earned $10.2 million (cume now $12.1 million).

“The Greatest Showman” rises one place to #4 with $9.5 million (cume now $126.5 million), while “The Post” falls one spot to #5 with $8.9 million (cume now $58.5 million).
