“Sully” Easily Wins Weekend Box Office; “When The Bough Breaks” Debuts At #2

Critically acclaimed new release “Sully” and critically panned newcomer “When The Bough Breaks” claim the top two spots on the US weekend box office chart.

Set to earn an estimated $35.5 million this weekend, “Sully” takes #1. “When The Bough Breaks” follows at #2 with $15.0 million.

“Don’t Breathe,” which spent the past two weekends on top, falls to #3 with $8.2 million (cume now $66.8 million). Summer blockbuster “Suicide Squad” drops two places to #4 with $5.7 million (cume now $307.4 million), while “The Wild Life” takes #5 with merely $3.4 million in opening weekend receipts.

Way down the list is new “The Disappointments Room.” The film, which earned $1.4 million from just over 1550 screens, settles for #17 on the chart.
