New release “Zootopia” cruised to victory at the Friday box office, dominating fellow new release “London Has Fallen” and holdover champion “Deadpool” in the process.
The critically acclaimed new animated film earned an estimated $19.5 million in US receipts on day one. The count easily tops the $7.6 million opening day tally posted by “London Has Fallen,” which takes #2 on the Friday chart.
“Deadpool” slips to #3 with $4.7 million.
New release “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot” follows in fourth with a disappointing $2.4 million in domestic Friday receipts. “Gods Of Egypt” was Friday’s #5 film; it earned an estimated $1.3 million.
