“Unfinished Business” Bombs at Box Office, Underwhelming “Chappie” Wins

Neither “Unfinished Business” nor “Chappie” wowed at the weekend box office, but one performed notably worse than the other.

“Unfinished Business,” that clear flop, opened with an estimated $4.8 million. The paltry opening weekend total, which represents another disappointing take for a Vince Vaughn vehicle, positions at the film at #10 on the weekend chart.

“Chappie,” meanwhile, claims #1 despite its unremarkable $13.3 million gross.

“Focus,” last week’s winner, slips to #2 with $10.0 million. New release “The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” earns #3 with $8.6 million, while “Kingsman: The Secret Service” (#4, $8.3 million) and “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” (#5, $7.0 million) complete the top five.
