“SNL” Ratings Rise Slightly for Chris Hemsworth, Zac Brown Band Episode

He might be labeled the “Sexiest Man Alive” and associated with the biggest movie franchise on the planet, but Chris Hemsworth did not lead this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” to especially impressive ratings.

Saturday’s episode, which featured Hemsworth as host and Zac Brown Band as musical guest, drew a modest 4.0 overnight household rating. It scored a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating in the 25 markets with local people meters.

While the episode bested last week’s Dakota Johnson-Alabama Shakes installment in both regards (3.8 household rating, 1.9 adults 18-49 rating), it was a mediocre performer within the context of the season.

Of the fourteen season 40 episodes that preceded this weekend’s installment, eight drew a stronger overnight household rating, four delivered a weaker one and two posted an identical mark.

Interestingly, the episode’s overnight rating mirrored that drawn by the season premiere, which featured the star of another big comic movie. That episode, hosted by “Guardians of the Galaxy” star Chris Pratt, drew the same 4.0 overnight household rating but a slightly stronger 2.1 adults 18-49 rating.

NBC has not yet confirmed the next episode’s host or musical guest.
