“Toy Story 4” will unsurprisingly retain its #1 position at the US box office.

The animated sequel led Friday’s box office battle with $17.0 million in receipts. Easily the day’s best, the tally positions “Toy Story” for a weekend in the $52-60 million range.

“Annabelle Comes Home,” which opened Wednesday, settled for #2 on the Friday chart. It earned $6.6 million on Friday and looks set for a weekend in the $17-22 million range. With receipts from Wednesday and Thursday included, its cumulative tally should be at $30 million by the end of Sunday.

Newcomer “Yesterday” earned #3 on the Friday chart with $6.0 million. It should finish the weekend with $15-17 million in opening weekend earnings.
