The critically acclaimed “Shazam!” predictably took first place at the US weekend box office.

According to studio estimates, the film will close its opening weekend with $53.5 million in receipts. The tally will more than double that of the weekend’s #2 film.

That #2 film is fellow newcomer “Pet Sematary,” which is set to post an opening weekend tally of $25.0 million.

“Dumbo,” last week’s winner, falls to #3 with $18.2 million. It now boasts a cumulative total of $76.3 million.

“Us” falls two places to #4 with $13.8 million (cume now $152.4 million), while “Captain Marvel” slips two spots to #5 with $12.7 million (cume now $374.1 million).

New release “The Best Of Enemies,” which launched on just over 1700 screens, starts with $4.5 million. It takes #6 on the chart.
