According to studio estimates, “The Dark Tower” grossed an underwhelming $19.5 million at the US weekend box office.

The disappointing figure is, however, enough for #1.

The film debuts in the top spot this weekend, knocking “Dunkirk” to #2. That film, which spent the past two weekends at #1, added $17.6 million to its haul this weekend (for a cumulative total of $133.6 million).

Down one place, “The Emoji Movie” takes #3 with $12.4 million (cume now $49.5 million).

“Girls Trip” slips to #4 with $11.4 million (cume now $85.4 million), while “Kidnap” debuts at #5 with $10.2 million.
