“Fantastic Beasts” Dominates Weekend Box Office, “Edge Of Seventeen,” “Bleed For This” Miss Top 5

“Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” unsurprisingly find the top spot on the US weekend box office chart.

The new release will earn an estimated $75.0 million by the close of tracking. The tally more than quadruples that of the weekend’s #2 film.

“Doctor Strange,” that #2 film, will add $17.7 million to its haul this weekend. Its cume now stands at $181.5 million.

Down one spot, “Trolls” grabs #3 with $17.5 million (cume now $116.2 million).

“Arrival” slips one place to #4 with $11.8 million (cume now $43.4 million), while “Almost Christmas” falls a spot to #5 with $7.0 million (cume now $25.4 million).

— “The Edge Of Seventeen” and “Bleed For This,” the weekend’s other two major releases, both miss the Top 5. “Edge Of Seventeen” takes #7 with $4.8 million, while “Bleed For This” grabs #8 on the strength of $2.4 million.
