“Rogue Nation” Dominates Friday Box Office; “Vacation” Disappoints

Courtesy the strongest opening day in the franchise’s history, “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” cruised to victory at the Friday box office.

The fifth “MI” film earned $20.4 million at the Friday box office. No other film earned even one-fourth as much.

Fellow new release “Vacation,” which claims second place, grossed a mere $4.5 million Friday. Since Wednesday, the film has earned an unremarkable $10.8 million.

“Ant-Man,” which spent the past two weeks as the box office champion, posted the third-best Friday total. It earned $3.6 million.

A similar $3.6 million earns “Minions” fourth place, while “Pixels” grabs fifth courtesy $3.2 million in Friday receipts.
