“Cinderella” Dominates Weekend Box Office, “Run All Night” Grabs #2

One would be hard-pressed to define this weekend’s box office competition as a “race.”

Exceedingly dominant, the Friday total for new release “Cinderella” more than doubled any other film’s entire weekend total.

The film, which scored $23.0 million on Friday, earned an estimated $70.1 million across the entire weekend. It was in a league of its own at the box office and easily ranks as the weekend’s #1 film.

Fellow newcomer “Run All Night,” which grabs the #2 spot, followed distantly with $11.0 million in receipts.

“Kingsman: The Secret Service” (#3, $6.2 million), “Focus” (#4, $5.8 million) and “Chappie” (#5, $5.8 million) formed the balance of the top five.
