“Non-Stop,” “Son of God” Top “Lego Movie” at Friday Box Office

The “Lego” era is finally over.

After dominating “The Lego Movie” on Friday, new releases “Non-Stop” and “Son of God” will both generate stronger weekend totals. Even though “Lego” will cross the $200 million mark this weekend, it will not extend its box office victory streak to four.

Neither new release received glowing reviews–and “Son of God” actually received bad ones–but both delivered solid Friday performances. The Liam Neeson vehicle “Non-Stop” earned $10 million, while “Son of God” was good for $9.4 million.

“Lego” settled for just $4.4 million in its fourth Friday of release.

“3 Days to Kill” ($1.5 million) and “The Monuments Men” ($1.4 million) completed the top five.
