Lorde’s “Royals” Stays at Number One, Lady Gaga Debuts at 13

Billboard revealed Wednesday that Lorde’s “Royals,” which has become multi-format chart royalty, will lead its Hot 100 for a fifth consecutive week.

The teen’s breakthrough jam, which continues to reign on Hot Rock Songs and recently claimed the Adult Pop category for its empire, is hot enough to again overcome competition from Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” Those songs remain at number two and three, respectively.

Avicii’s “Wake Me Up,” which ranks number two on the airplay chart behind “Royals,” holds at number four on the Hot 100. Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” remains in fifth place.

Jay-Z’s “Holy Grail” and Lady Gaga’s “Applause,” two Top Ten mainstays, both ascend this week; the former into sixth and the latter into seventh.

OneRepublic’s “Counting Stars” finally moves into the Top Ten with an eighth place finish, while Imagine Dragons returns to the upper portion with its latest single “Demons” (#9). Ylvis’ “The Fox” slips to number ten.

With a number thirteen bow, Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want (featuring R. Kelly)” is the week’s hottest new single.
