Thanks to “on the hour” airplay from iHeartMedia stations and the enthusiasm one would expect for the artist’s debut solo single, Harry Styles” “Sign Of The Times” received substantial opening day support at pop radio.

The new single received 1,484 pop spins on Friday, which marked its first day of release. The tally positions “Sign Of The Times” at an impressive #31 on Mediabase’s building pop chart, which ranks songs based on the first six days of the April 2-8 tracking week.

“Sign Of The Times” will not receive as much support Saturday, but it still has a very good chance of securing a Top 30 position on the official chart. For starters, Shawn Mendes’ building #13 “Mercy” is due to be removed as a recurrent, which will move all lower-ranked songs up by one spot. That means “Sign Of The Times” is really #30 on the building chart, and it should have no trouble retaining that position through the close of tracking.

“Sign Of The Times” received its biggest first day pop support from San Diego’s Channel 93.3 and Z100 Portland, which each played the song 24 times Friday.

— While it did not receive a full-fledged “on the hour” campaign at the format, “Sign Of The Times” did receive interest at hot adult contemporary. It received 98 first day spins, which results in a #49 position on the building Hot AC chart.

Its biggest opening day Hot AC supporter was Orlando’s Mix 105.1, which offered 14 spins.
