Kelly Clarkson’s “Piece By Piece” Posted 4777% Gain in Weekly Sales — Last Week

The most recent Nielsen Music sales tracking week ran between February 19 and 25.

Kelly Clarkson’s now-iconic “American Idol” rendition of “Piece By Piece” aired just prior to 10PM ET on the night of February 25. The bulk of the corresponding sales gain will, therefore, manifest in next week’s digital sales chart.

This week’s sales chart, however, reveals the earliest piece of the impact. According to Nielsen Music, “Piece By Piece” sold 21,996 paid US downloads during the February 19-25 tracking week.

That count, which was generated almost entirely Thursday night, is enough for #35 on the weekly Digital Songs chart. It, moreover, bests the previous week’s tally by a whopping 4,777%.

Through February 25, “Piece By Piece” possessed a cumulative US total of 47,875.
