Strong “The Americans” Season Finale Scores Slight Ratings Bump

Critical favorite “The Americans” was far from a ratings blockbuster in its inaugural season, but it at least managed to improve for Wednesday’s season finale on FX.

The episode–received by critics as one of the best scripted TV episodes year-to-date–drew a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating with 1.74 million viewers Wednesday. Though not outside of its performance ballpark for the first season, it did represent a gain from last week’s 0.5 and 1.49 million viewers.

FX, which has greater programming needs as it prepares to split into two networks, has already confirmed the Keri Russell-Matthew Rhys starrer for a second season.
