The Rock Teams With Wahlberg On New HBO Series; To Star in Sports Version of “Entourage”

On the heels of their “Pain & Gain” debuting atop the weekend box office, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg are teaming for a new HBO series.

Rock and Wahlberg will reunite to produce a half-hour dramedy series for HBO, which follows “active and retired athletes living in Miami” and is being described as a sports-themed version of “Entourage.”

In addition to producing, Rock will star in the series, his first such role in a scripted program.

Stephen Levinson, who collaborated with Wahlberg on “Entourage,” “Boardwalk Empire” and “How to Make it in America,” will work with him on this series as well. Peter Berg is set to direct the premiere.
