Green Day’s “Revolution Radio” is tracking as the week’s best-selling album in the US, but it is definitely not the only notable new release.
Albums from Norah Jones, OneRepublic, Alter Bridge, and Phantogram entered the market this week, and early sales projections are now available.
Based on opening day sales data, Hits expects Norah Jones’ “Day Breaks” to sell 32-37,000 pure US copies this week. OneRepublic’s “Oh My My” should move 27-32,000 in pure US albums.
Alter Bridge’s “The Last Hero” will likely sell 23-28,000 US copies, while Phantogram’s “Three” should post a first-week sales total of 18-23,000.
The pure sales figures will determine placement on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. Billboard 200 position is defined by consumption — the sum of pure sales, TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500). Consumption projections are rarely accurate at this stage in the game, but it does seem safe to conclude that none of the four albums will receive a massive uptick from TEA and SEA.
