As we near the end of the September 16-22 US album tracking week, Drake’s “Views” is the frontrunner for #1 on the Billboard 200.
According to Hits Daily Double, Drake is pacing for 54-58,000 in weekly US consumption units (album sales + track sales/10 + track streams/1500).
While not enough for a blowout, such a total should be enough for a victory in the Billboard 200 race. The closest competition will likely come from Mac Miller’s new “The Divine Feminine” (~46-50,000 units) and “Suicide Squad: The Album” (~46-50,000).
“Views,” which dominated the Billboard 200 in the first half of the summer, last held #1 on the chart dated August 13 (July 22-28 tracking week).
— On the pure sales front (Top Album Sales chart), look for a tight race between Aaron Lewis’ debuting “Sinner” and Jason Aldean’s reigning champion “They Don’t Know.” Hits has the former pacing for 36-39,000 pure US album sales and the latter trending for 35-38,000. Mac Miller’s album will be just behind with 32-35,000.
