5 Seconds of Summer finally got its revenge on the enduring “Frozen” soundtrack.
This spring, the dominant soundtrack spoiled what seemed like a certain #1 debut for 5SOS’ “She Looks so Perfect” EP. That release, which opened at #2 on the Billboard 200, was never able to reach the chart’s apex.
Last week, the band’s debut full-length moved at an electric sales pace. And, per Billboard’s Wednesday update, it has officially put the “Frozen” soundtrack in its place.
The self-titled 5 Seconds of Summer release debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200 with sales of 259,000. The “Frozen” soundtrack, which is impressively still a Top 5 album, settles for #2 with weekly sales of 37,000.
According to Billboard, last week marked the soundtrack’s thirty first consecutive week in the Top 5.
“Weird Al” Yankovic’s “Mandatory Fun,” which debuted at #1 last week, slips to #3 with sales of 33,000. Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” moves 31,000 for fourth place, while “Kidz Bop 26” claims fifth on the strength of 27,000 sales.
Common’s new “Nobody’s Smiling” and Crown the Empire’s new “The Resistance: Rise of the Runaways” land at #6 and #7, respectively. Both moved roughly 24,000 copies last week.
“NOW 50” (21,000, #8), Jason Mraz’ “Yes!” (20,000, #9) and Ed Sheeran’s “x” (20,000, #10) complete the top ten.
