Tuesday afternoon, Justin Timberlake surprised music fans with a new track called “SoulMate.”

By the morning of Wednesday, July 4, it had entered the Top 5 on the US iTunes sales chart.

“SoulMate” is #3 on the all-genre listing as of press time at 11:15AM ET.

“SoulMate” is not the only recent addition to the Top 5. Wes Cook Band’s “I Stand For The Flag” has also joined that illustrious group; it appears at #5 as of press time.

“I Stand For The Flag” gained high-profile exposure Tuesday, as FOX News reported that Facebook had flagged the song as political content (thus restricting the ability to promote the song on the network).

“Our song bleeds unity and love of country,” said frontman Wes Cook in a statement to FOX. “It doesn’t see race, color, religion, or political affiliation.

“‘I Stand for the Flag’ means I am thankful for the freedoms and opportunities this country gives all citizens, and shows how dependent we all are on each other for the success of our individual American Dream. I believe patriotism is not political.”

The song is surely also receiving a lift from the July 4 holiday.
