Like Meghan Trainor’s “Title,” Fall Out Boy’s “American Beauty/American Psycho” is expected to move nearly 200,000 copies in its first week of release.

Fall Out Boy today thus finds itself in a position to the one Trainor occupied last Thursday. The act gets to take the “Tonight Show” stage from a standpoint of celebration rather than desperation.

That is not to say Fall Out Boy does not hope its performance, which airs on Tuesday’s “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” does not drive more purchases. It does, however, mean that the band can perform with confidence that its latest batch of music is resonating with the buying public.

Taped Tuesday afternoon, the latest “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” also features visits from Keri Russell and Jude Law. It airs on NBC at 11:35PM ET.
