Tinashe’s “Aquarius” Debuts at #17 with 18.8K Sales

For the second consecutive week, a well-reviewed, buzzworthy album fueled by a blockbuster, “On the Verge” single debuts modestly on the Billboard 200 album sales chart.

Last week, it was Tove Lo’s “Queen of the Clouds” that entered at #14 on the strength of 19,346 first-week sales.

This week, Tinashe, whose “2 On (featuring ScHoolboy Q)” dominated the rhythmic airwaves and made a minor dent at pop, scores a similar sales count for her debut LP “Aquarius.” According to Nielsen, she enters the mix at #17 with sales of 18,773.

Currently supported at radio by “Pretend,” “Aquarius” received rave reviews from critics. As of press time, it possessed an impressive Metacritic score of 80/100.

The opening week sales count, however, can be described in terms no more favorable than underwhelming.
