Latest Update on the Alberto Del Rio Fight, How Did it Happen? (Updated)

Bringing at least a portion of the required clarity to the matter, PWInsider reports that Alberto Del Rio was involved in a bar fight in the early morning hours on Sunday, the day of WWE’s Summerslam pay-per-view.

Update at 7:02PM ET – Conflicting reports have emerged on the incident. One, featured in more detail below, says that a verbal altercation between Alberto Del Rio and a fellow bar patron turned physical when that patron’s friends got involved.

The other, featured by F4WOnline.com, says that the fight began at around 3AM at a Los Angeles bar when someone said something to the girl with Drew McIntyre. Alberto Del Rio, who stepped in, was blindsided by someone swinging a bottle, and a fight subsequently broke out.

According the report, Del Rio engaged in a verbal altercation with a patron at an Irish pub located near the WWE hotel. The altercation quickly escalated, and the other patron’s stepped in to create a physical fight.

Drew McIntyre, who was also in the bar, intervened on Del Rio’s behalf. Though his face looked unblemished in a Twitter photo, PWInsider notes that he had some “knots” on the side of his head.

Del Rio, on the other hand, wore the wounds all over his face. Sources say he tried to hide his face when he returned to the WWE hotel on Sunday morning, but bruising and black eyes were very noticeable during his match on the Summerslam pay-per-view.
