NBC revealed its 2013-14 schedule Sunday, confirming some key changes to its primetime lineup.
One such change will be moving “Revolution” away from its protected, post-“The Voice” timeslot. “Revolution” will move to Wednesdays, opening up its Monday at 10PM slot for highly-anticipated James Spader-starrer “Blacklist.”
The Tuesday edition of “The Voice” will air at 9PM, sandwiched between “The Biggest Loser” and breakout sophomore drama “Chicago Fire,” which moves to Tuesdays at 10PM. “Ironside” slides into its current Wednesday night timeslot.
NBC is not yet doing away with its Thursday night comedy block, but the makeup of that night will change this season. “Parks and Recreation” moves into the 8PM position, leading into “Welcome to the Family,” “Sean Saves the World” and “The Michael J. Fox Show.” The positioning of the latter two is interesting; most assumed “Fox” was sure to get the 9PM slot.
“Parenthood” will then air at 10PM on Thursdays.
The network has yet to schedule new series “Chicago PD,” “Undateable” and “Night Shift,” all of which are being eyed as midseason replacements. Returning comedy “Community” is also without a confirmed premiere, although it will definitely be back for season five.
NBC has not made a renewal decision on “Hannibal” or “Celebrity Apprentice.”

New Comedies
âABOUT A BOYâ
Based on the best-selling Nick Hornby (âHigh Fidelity,â âAn Educationâ) novel, writer Jason Katims (âFriday Night Lights,â âParenthoodâ) and director Jon Favreau (âIron Man,â âRevolutionâ) present a different kind of coming-of-age story. Will Freeman (David Walton, âBent,â âPerfect Couplesâ) lives a charmed existence as the ultimate man-child. After writing a hit song, he was granted a life of free time, free love and freedom from financial woes. Heâs single, unemployed and loving it. So imagine his surprise when Fiona (Minnie Driver, âGood Will Hunting,â âBarneyâs Versionâ), a needy single mom and her oddly charming 11-year-old son, Marcus (Benjamin Stockham, â1600 Pennâ), move in next door and disrupt his perfect world. When Marcus begins dropping by his home unannounced, Willâs not so sure about being a kidâs new best friend, until, of course, Will discovers that women find single dads irresistible. That changes everything and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Willâs son and, in return, Marcus is allowed to chill at Willâs house. Before he realizes it, Will starts to enjoy the visits and even finds himself looking out for the kid. In fact, this newfound friendship may very well teach him a thing or two that he never imagined possible â about himself and caring for others.
Writer Jason Katims, director Jon Favreau, Tim Bevan (âLes MisĂ©rables,â âAbout a Boyâ), Eric Fellner (âLes MisĂ©rables,â âAbout a Boyâ), Liza Chasin (âLes MisĂ©rables,â âAbout a Boyâ), Robert De Niro (âAbout a Boy,â âMeet the Parentsâ) and Jane Rosenthal (âAbout a Boy,â âMeet the Parentsâ) serve as executive producers. âAbout a Boyâ is a production of Universal Television, Working Title Television, True Jack Productions and Tribeca Productions.
âTHE FAMILY GUIDEâ
Itâs not every family thatâs brought closer together by divorce, but then again, the Fishers arenât exactly typical. Take Mel Fisher (J.K. Simmons, âThe Closer,â âLaw & Orderâ), for example. Whether itâs chopping down trees, showing his daughter how to drive or playing football with his son, heâs never let the fact that heâs blind slow him down. Then thereâs Joyce Fisher (Parker Posey, âLouie,â âFor Your Considerationâ), possibly the only mom in Pasadena to smoke a pipe. For her, divorce is like a second coming of age, a chance to be the teen she never was. Just ask â80s-obsessed teenage daughter Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley, âSouthlandâ), whose clothes Joyce is always borrowing. At the center of all this is Henry (Eli Baker), the Fisherâs 11-year old son. Having always been his dadâs eyes, ears and wingman, Henryâs less than thrilled when Mel shows up with Elvis, a guide dog⊠which is also how Henry learns about the pending divorce. While reluctant to the changes this dog would bring, itâs through the adult Henryâs voice-over (Jason Bateman, âArrested Developmentâ) that we find out his parentâs split would âallow all of us to finally discover who we needed to be.â
Writer DJ Nash (âUp All Night,â âGuys with Kidsâ), Jason Bateman and Jim Garavente serve as executive producers. âThe Family Guideâ is a production of Universal Television and Aggregate Films.
âTHE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOWâ
Look whoâs making the news again. One of New Yorkâs most beloved news anchors, Mike Henry (Michael J. Fox, âSpin City,â âFamily Tiesâ), put his career on hold to spend more time with his family and focus on his health after he was diagnosed with Parkinsonâs disease. But five years later, with the kids busy growing up and Mike growing restless, it just might be time for him to get back to work. Having never wanted Mike to leave in the first place, his old boss Harris Green (Wendell Pierce, âThe Wire,â âTremeâ) jumped at the chance to get him back on TV. The trick, as itâs always been, was to make Mike think it was his idea. Now the plan is in motion and Mike will be back to juggling home, family, and career â just like the old days, but only better.
Writer Sam Laybourne (âCougar Townâ), director Will Gluck (âEasy A,â âFriends with Benefitsâ) and Fox serve as executive producers. âThe Michael J. Fox Showâ is a production of Sony Pictures Television and Olive Bridge Entertainment.
âSEAN SAVES THE WORLDâ
Sean (Sean P. Hayes, âWill & Graceâ) is a divorced gay dad who juggles a lot â his successful but demanding career, offbeat employees, pushy mom Lorna (Linda Lavin, âAliceâ) and weekends with his teenage daughter, Ellie (Sami Isler). So when she moves in full-time, itâs a whole new world. Never one to do anything halfway, Seanâs intent on being the best dad ever, so he loads up on parenting how-to books and plans Pinterest-worthy family dinners. But it seems his companyâs new owner has decided Sean and his team should work longer hours, putting a damper on his homemaking plans and throwing a kink in Seanâs perfectly constructed work/life balance. Ellie sees this development as a plus. She loves her dad, but heâs clearly going overboard. From keeping his boss happy, employees motivated and enduring his motherâs tactless âadviceâ to raising a smart, grounded and healthy kid, itâs going to be a growing experience, to say the least. But if anyone can handle it all, itâs Sean. Thomas Lennon (âReno 911â), Lindsay Sloane (âWeedsâ) and Echo Kellum (âBen and Kateâ) also star.
Writer Victor Fresco (âGo On,â âMad About Youâ), director James Burrows (âFriends,â âThe Big Bang Theoryâ), Sean P. Hayes (âHot in Cleveland,â âGrimmâ) and Todd Milliner (âHot in Cleveland,â âGrimmâ) serve as executive producers. âSean Saves the Worldâ is a production of Universal Television and Hazy Mills Productions.
âUNDATEABLEâ
When confident slacker Danny Beeman (Chris DâElia, âWhitney,â âGlory Dazeâ) takes Justin (comedian Brent Morin) on as a roommate, Danny unwittingly inherits Justinâs group of romantically challenged friends. Seeing himself as the ultimate player, Danny decides to teach the crew (who he dubs âThe Undateablesâ) everything he knows about âthe game of love.â For their first lesson, Danny takes the guys to an event hosted by his sister, Leslie (Bianca Kajlich, âRules of Engagementâ), who is a single mom with dating difficulties of her own. At first, Dannyâs advice seems to pay off big-time: The shy guy talks to a girl, the no-filter dude learns itâs never OK to ask a woman when sheâs due, and his nebbish roommate, Justin, goes home with a mystery woman. Itâs not until the next day that they figure out it was Leslie. Hereâs a refreshing comedy about the âdoâs,â âdonâtsâ and âduhsâ of dating.
Writer Adam Sztykiel (âDue Dateâ), Bill Lawrence (âScrubs,â âCougar Townâ) and Jeff Ingold serve as executive producers. âUndateableâ is a production of Warner Bros. Television and Doozer Productions.
âWELCOME TO THE FAMILYâ
Parents Dan Yoder (Mike OâMalley, âGlee,â âMy Name Is Earlâ) and wife Karina (Mary McCormack, âIn Plain Sight,â âThe West Wingâ) find out on the day their daughter Molly (Ella Rae Peck (âDeception,â âGossip Girlâ) is graduating from high school with an acceptance to college, she announces she pregnant. Across town in East L.A., Junior Hernandez (Joseph Haro, âGlee,â âAwkwardâ), in the middle of his high school valedictorian speech, gets a text from girlfriend Molly that heâs going to be a daddy. Expectedly, Juniorâs parents Miguel (Ricardo Chavira, âDesperate Housewivesâ) and Lisette (Justina Machado, âSix Feet Under,â âERâ) are also upset, as they now have Caucasians in the family. What follows is a crash course in culture blending as Molly and Junior decide they want to get married and, in doing so, bring together two very different families. The dads have the most difficult time reconciling while the moms take a softer approach to get to know one another. When the parents fully realize that their kids are serious about making a life together, the adults exhale and begin to come to terms with this new blended family and start to understand it will take, humor, love and tolerance to make it all work.
Writer Mike Sikowitz (âRules of Engagement,â âFriendsâ) and Jamie Tarses (âHappy Endings, âFranklin & Bashâ) serve as executive producers. âWelcome to the Familyâ is a production of Sony Pictures Television and FanFare Productions.

Brokering shadowy deals for criminals across the globe, Red was known by many as âThe Concierge of Crime.â Now, heâs mysteriously surrendered to the FBI with an explosive offer: He will help catch a long-thought-dead terrorist, Ranko Zamani, under the condition that he speaks only to Elizabeth âLizâ Keen (Megan Boone, âLaw & Order: Los Angelesâ), an FBI profiler fresh out of Quantico. For Liz, itâs going to be one hell of a first day on the job. What follows is a twisting series of events as the race to stop a terrorist begins. What are Redâs true intentions? Demanding and tough, only those who can take the heat survive under Voightâs command. Take Det. Antonio Dawson (Jon Seda), for example. Despite a troubled history with his boss, Dawson has ambitions of running the unit. If that means facing off against Voight every day, heâll persevere. Now with some of the countryâs most powerful parents at the mercy of one vengeful mastermind, the question arises: How far would you go and what would you become to ensure your childâs safe return? But T.C. has never met a rule he couldnât break, or a person he wonât stand up to.
