“The Walking Dead” Finale Reveals New Michonne Character, Prison

An action-packed “The Walking Dead” featured plenty of zombie action, the anticipated–and expected–reveal that even the living humans carry the zombie “infection” and even some more character deaths (Jimmy and Patricia), but the most prominent buzz stems from the episode’s final few scenes.

One involved Andrea, whose impressive attempt at survival after being separated from the group appeared to be crashing down. With a hungry zombie on top of her and ready to end her run as a member of the living, a mysterious character–one quite recognizable, however, to fans of the comic–sliced her way into the action.

Michonne, with her face shadowed out by a hood, used a katana to viciously cut through the walker’s head, saving Andrea and making an impact in her debut. She arrived with two armless zombies chained to her person as Andrea looked on in shock.

“TWD” showrunner Glen Mazzara confirmed that the show will have its own vision for the popular comic character.

The episode soon progressed to a stern speech from Rick, who wanted to reassert his status as the group’s leader. As the action moved towards the credits, it made sure to catch a shot of the famous “prison,” a locale from the comics that will play an integral setting role next season.
