Early sales projections have been less accurate since the switch to a Friday-Thursday tracking week, but it is still safe to conclude that Future’s new self-titled album is pacing for #1 on the Billboard 200 consumption chart.
As of right now, “Future” is also tracking for #1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales (pure sales) chart.
Based on opening day data, Hits Daily Double says “Future” should generate in the neighborhood of 115-140,000 in first-week US consumption units. Consumption, as a reminder, is the sum of album sales, TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500).
With no other album expected to hit 100K in consumption units, “Future” is a safe bet for #1 on the Billboard 200.
“Future” would become the artist’s third solo #1 (and fourth total with his Drake collaboration “What A Time To Be Alive” included) on the Billboard 200.
Hits projects that “Future” will sell upwards of 60,000 pure US copies this week. If the figure roughly holds, it should be enough for #1 on Top Album Sales.
As of press time, the next-best-selling newcomers will likely be Charlie Wilson’s “In It To Win It” (projected for 44-49,000 pure US sales) and Ryan Adams’ “Prisoner” (36-41,000 pure sales). Projections for some key holdover albums, such as the “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Trolls” soundtracks, were not available at press time.
