WWE’s stock did drop with higher than usual volume following the release–and USA’s apology release Thursday definitely suggests some regret on the part of the network. At the same time, it remains unclear that journalists and investors who made business decisions on the basis of the WWE-related press release can be excused for being “duped” by the Trump news, given how many resources were available for quickly confirming its invalidity.
