Update: Billboard has made the news official. Lady Gaga’s “Joanne” is #1 on this week’s Top Album Sales and Billboard 200 charts.
It tops the former with what Billboard reports as 170K in pure weekly US sales. The addition of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) yields a first-week consumption total of 201K, which is enough for #1 on the Billboard 200.

With an opening week total that tops even the upgraded, late-week projection, Lady Gaga’s “Joanne” comfortably wins the US sales race.
It also claims a dominant #1 in the weekly consumption battle.
According to Hits Daily Double, “Joanne” sold approximately 167,665 pure US copies during the October 21-27 tracking week. While down from the 258,000 moved by 2013’s “ARTPOP,” the solid total almost doubles that of this week’s nearest competitor.
The addition of TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) results in a first-week consumption total of about 199,039 units. That, too, easily ranks as the week’s best.
Due Sunday, Billboard’s more authoritative data will differ slightly from that reported by Hits. The discrepancy will not, however, affect the ultimate outcome: the sales total will position “Joanne” at #1 on Top Album Sales, while the consumption figure will be enough for #1 on the Billboard 200.
This week’s other pure sales leaders: Michael Buble’s “Nobody But Me” (~88,855 pure US sales), KoRn’s “The Serenity of Suffering” (~52,311 pure US sales), Pentatonix’s “A Pentatonix Christmas” (~51,806 pure US sales), and Chris Tomlin’s “Never Lose Sight” (~31,198 pure US sales)
This week’s other consumption leaders: “Nobody But Me” (~95,254), “A Pentatonix Christmas” (~60,116), “The Serenity Of Suffering” (~54,713), and Drake’s “Views” (~37,555).
