— Entertainment Weekly reported Sunday that FOX’s breakout hit “Glee”–now the season’s highest-rated new scripted series among adult 18-49–has been prematurely booked for a third season at the network.
“Glee” received an early season two pickup last year, and based on its continued pop culture dominance, it has already secured a spot on the 2011-12 FOX roster.
The move allows the show to more effectively manage production costs while having more freedom to plan long-term storyline directions into the writing.
— Deadline reported this weekend that ABC pilot “Edgar Floats” remains in contention at the network. Though not picked up to series in time for upfronts last week, the show has received an order for six additional scripts.
The potential series, which stars Tom Cavanaugh as a police psychologist who becomes a bounty hunter, received positive marks but was viewed by some as possibly being too “quirky” for network television.
