While its run at pop radio was short-lived, Kelly Clarkon’s revived “Piece By Piece” continues to grow at the hot adult contemporary radio format.
The title track from Clarkson’s album received 980 spins during the first two days of the April 10-16 tracking week. Up 11.5% from the count at this point last week, the tally slots “Piece By Piece” at #10 on Mediabase’s building Hot AC chart.
Making conclusions based on two days of airplay is a risky game, but it sure seems like “Piece By Piece” will claim a Top 10 position on this week’s official chart. It faces no imminent threat from below; it actually seems more likely to leapfrog Taylor Swift’s building #9 “New Romantics” than it does to slip from the Top 10.
“Piece By Piece,” which peaked at a modest #30 during its late 2015/early 2016 run at Hot AC radio, received a second life thanks to Clarkson’s show-stopping performance on a late-February edition of “American Idol.”
