The 59% drop for “Fast & Furious” proved enough to allow newcomer “Hannah Montana: The Movie” win the weekend.
With $34 million, according to early estimates, “Montana” topped the $28.8 million for “Furious.” “Monsters vs. Aliens” ranked third with $22.6 million.
“Hannah Montana”‘s opening was the second highest in Easter weekend history; “Scary Movie 4” still holds the crown with a $40.2 million opening frame.
New releases “Observe and Report” and “Dragonball Evolution” made little impact, earning $11.1 million and $4.7 million, respectively.
