Demi Lovato’s “Confident” Debuts With 76.6K First Week Sales, Takes #2 on Chart

Demi Lovato’s fifth studio album — and first released in conjunction with her Safehouse Records project — sold 76,603 US copies during its inaugural week of release.

The figure comes from Nielsen Music, which identifies Lovato’s “Confident” as the October 16-22 tracking week’s second-best-selling album. Thanks to 87,737 first week sales, Pentatonix’s “Pentatonix” takes #1 on Top Album Sales.

The 76.6K pure sales figure represents the lowest opening-week tally for a Lovato album. “Confident” does, however, start at a higher chart position than two previous albums: “Unbroken” (#4) and “DEMI” (#3).

She previously topped the weekly sales chart with “Here We Go Again” and started at the same #2 with debut album “Don’t Forget.”

With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album equivalent units) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album equivalent unit) included, “Confident” posted a first-week consumption total of approximately 98,000. That positions Lovato’s album at #2 on the revamped Billboard 200.

The aforementioned “Pentatonix” also leads that chart.
