Over the past several weeks, Natalie La Rose’s breakthrough “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” has steadily ranked as one of the greatest gainers at pop radio.
This week, “Somebody” is not simply one of pop’s greatest airplay gainers. It is the greatest gainer.
Up two places to a new peak of #4 on the Mediabase pop airplay chart, “Somebody” received 13,640 spins during the April 5-11 tracking week.
That spin total bests last week’s count by a whopping 2,045 plays. No other pop song enjoyed a gain of that significance.
Some did, however, enjoy very sizable gains. Those songs include The Weeknd’s #7 “Earned It” (+2,036), Walk The Moon’s #15 “Shut Up and Dance” (+2,004), Wiz Khalifa’s #34 “See You Again” (featuring Charlie Puth)” (+1,089) and Flo Rida’s #10 “GDFR (featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas)” (+1,040).
— While the song crossed over to pop radio fairly quickly, its earliest success came at the rhythmic radio format. “Somebody” went all the way to #1 on the Mediabase rhythmic airplay chart, and it is still positioned at an impressive #2.
And despite falling from its #1 peak, “Somebody” actually enjoyed a slight week-over-week airplay gain during the April 5-11 tracking period.
Its gain of 21 spins was not, however, one of the format’s greatest.
Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money” ranks as rhythmic radio’s greatest airplay gainer this week. Enough to grab #15 on the airplay chart, its weekly spin count of 2,321 bests last week’s mark by a whopping 1,070 spins.
Other notable rhythmic gainers include The Weeknd’s #1 “Earned It” (+639), Fetty Wap’s #6 “Trap Queen” (+622), Flo Rida’s #5 “GDFR (featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas)” (+480) and Ariana Grande’s #10 “One Last Time” (+443).
Rihanna’s “Bitch” also ranks as the greatest airplay gainer at urban. Positioned at #21 on this week’s urban airplay chart, its weekly spin count of 1,259 bests last week’s mark by 576 plays.
Other notable urban gainers include Big Sean’s #5 “Blessings (featuring Drake)” (+521), Omarion’s #7 “Post to Be (featuring Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko)” (+478), The Weeknd’s #3 “Earned It” (+405) and Future’s #13 “Commas” (+392).
