Foo Fighters’ “Something from Nothing” has stolen the alternative throne from long-reigning “Stolen Dance.”
The Milky Chance megahit slips to #3 on this week’s official Mediabase alternative airplay chart, which allows Foo Fighters’ “Something from Nothing” to grab the #1 position. “Something” makes the two-position rise on the strength of 2,863 weekly spins.
Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” holds at #2 with 2,661 spins, while Milky Chance’s tune slips to #3 with 2,588.
Despite trailing in spins, both the Hozier and Milky Chance songs received more audience impressions from the Mediabase panel this week. That creates some question regarding which song will rule over Billboard’s audience-driven Alternative Songs chart. That listing’s leader will be revealed Monday afternoon.
As far as Mediabase goes, Bastille’s “Flaws” surges to #4 (+3) this week courtesy its 1,873 weekly spins, while alt-J’s “Left Hand Free” slips one position to #5 with 1,816 spins.
— In addition to ruling alternative, Foo Fighters’ “Something from Nothing” also remains the song to beat on Mediabase’s active rock airplay and mainstream rock airplay charts.
