Thanks to post-release correction associated with the singles from Taylor Swift’s “1989,” opportunity opened up within the top ten of Billboard’s Digital Songs chart.
Some of the music industry’s most buzzworthy songs seized that opportunity.
After spending some time in the shadow of Swift’s “Shake it Off,” Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” returns to #1 on the digital sales chart thanks to a weekly sales total of 143,000. To date, the song has driven more than 3 million paid downloads.
Riding surging airplay and buzz from its inclusion in the latest Beats commercial, Hozier’s “Take Me to Church” soars to the #2 position this week. It was purchased 132,000 times last week.
Maroon 5’s “Animals” follows at #3 with 117,000, while Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” (#4, 89,000) and Taylor Swift’s final instant gratification release “Welcome to New York” (#5, 84,000) complete the top five.
Other top ten sellers include Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang” (#6, 82,000), Jason DeRulo’s “Trumpets” (#7, 81,000), Pitbull’s “Fireball (featuring John Ryan)” (#8, 69,000), Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” (#9, 67,000) and Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One” (#10, 67,000).
Pitbull’s song makes its first top ten appearance this week; Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” returns to the top ten for the first time since its inaugural frame.
