Ratings: “The Affair” Enjoys Slight Boost in Week Two

Benefiting from a combination of buzz and improved lead-in support, Showtime’s drama “The Affair” enjoyed slight improvement in week two.

After delivering a 0.1 adults 18-49 rating (rounded down from a 0.14) with 507,000 viewers for its premiere, “The Affair” posted a 0.2 adults 18-49 rating (rounded up from a 0.15) with 512,000 viewers for its second installment.

Insofar as more than 2 million individuals time-shifted the premiere, the decidedly minor week-over-week uptick reveals that the overwhelming majority of such viewers did not transform into live+same-day viewers. But a gain is a gain, and for week two of an intricately crafted drama, there is no way to ignore the positive inherent to that notion.

Helpful to the cause was a stronger performance from lead-in “Homeland.” After delivering a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating (rounded from a 0.43) with 1.22 million viewers last week, “Homeland” this week delivered a 0.5 rating (rounded from a 0.47) with 1.35 million.
